February 27th, 2015: NEXT FLYING CIRCUS GIG IN TWO WEEKS
It is exactly two weeks until you can see FLYING CIRCUS live again. The band will play a two hour gig at the "Café Kultus" in Grevenbroich on Friday, February 27th, 2015. The performance will include all of the songs that were recorded last year in London for the band's next album as well as two brandnew tracks never performed live before and soon to be recorded in further studio sessions.

And of course you will also be able to hear pieces from all of the band's other albums, harking back to compositions that were made as early as 1990 even.

Roughly half of the available tickets have now been sold, so you'd better make sure to secure yourself a place at the rather small "Kultus" soon (ticket price: 5,- Euros • available via e-mail at http://www.flying-circus.com/news_d.html )

December 4th, 2014: As we announced to you in November already, presale tickets for the next FLYING CIRCUS concert are now available! If you want to see the gig on February 20th, 2015 at the Café Kultus in Grevenbroich, you can now place your order for a ticket via e-mail.

The price is 5,- Euro per ticket plus 65 cents for postage per order.

In the meantime, the band is now completing the overdubs on the basic tracks for the new album which were recorded in London in spring. Simultaneously, the FLYING CIRCUS musicians are working on further songs for the album, two of which are now fully composed and arranged, so the band will present them to you live in February along with a set of older songs comprising all eras of FLYING CIRCUS.

September 12th, 2014: It's been 6 days already since our gig at Bedburg's "Musikmeile" festival - and we still can't believe how many people there were in front of our stage at the "Altstadt-Stuben". Thanks a lot for supporting us! According to the "Kölner Stadtanzeiger" which wrote a long article about the event that was witnessed by more than 20.000 people, Flying Circus "represented the genre of sophisticated art." Sounds great!

September 1st, 2014: The complete schedule for Bedburg's 10th "MusikMeile" festival on September 6th is finally ready. You can see a 90 minute live set by FLYING CIRCUS at the Altstadt-Stuben, starting at 8pm (at the market square, Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße 41).

That means you can easily watch the MusikMeile's opening with headliners EXTRABREIT at 6pm at the Schlossparkplatz and then stroll down to our venue (and back, probably, because at 10pm there will be a further top act at the Schlossparkplatz, namely the COMMITMENTS from the movie of the same name). You'll find the MusikMeile's full schedule here

July 27th, 2014: After mainly concentrating on doing recordings for the new album over the last weeks and months, FLYING CIRCUS can now prouldy present their next live date to you: The band will play the renowned „MusikMeile“ festival in Bedburg on the 6th of September, 2014.

This big event in the little town near the river Erft has developed into an abolute must for every true fan of live music in the whole Rhineland over the past years, and FLYING CIRCUS are very proud to be able to participate at the 10th anniversaty of this great event. We will tell you all about the festival schedules and on what exact stage we will play as soon as possible! Admission will be free for the whole festival, and we are very curious as to what top act organizer Dieter Kirchenbauer will present to us this year after last years highlight with ELO.

May 1st, 2014: Just a quick update on the recording sessions mentioned below: During the three days at the London Recording Studios (formerly SARM East), FLYING CIRCUS have recorded the basic tracks for six songs for the new album which are now being worked on further. Thanks to our fantastic sound engineer Murillo "Mucca" Squillaro, the sound of the recordings has come out really well and will provide a great basis for all the work to come. In addition to working on those recordings, the band is currently arranging six to seven further songs to complete the album.

February 28th, 2014: RECORDING SESSIONS IN LONDON
One month after the concert in Bergheim, FLYING CIRCUS will spend a copule of days in London in order to record roughly half of the tracks for their next album at the „London Recording Studios“. The venerable rooms of this studio once witnessed QUEEN recording parts of „Bohemian Rhapsody“ and the album „A Day at the Races“ in the 1970s. In the 1980s, legendary producer Trevor Horn made the studio his own and produced hugely successful albums by FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD and YES there. You can hear some of the FLYING CIRCUS tracks that will be recorded here played live at the Medio gig already.

November 15th, 2013: Thanks a lot for being such a wonderful and enthusiastic audience at last Friday’s FLYING CIRCUS gig!

We will be in the rehearsal studio for the next couple of weeks in order to work on more new songs, but there's already a new live date on the horizon as well:

On March 14th, 2014, we will play Bergheim’s renowned MEDIO theatre, which should be an absolute highlight because the guys there only stage top-class productions: tasteful stage design and great lights & sound guaranteed!

And there’s a treat on top: Dieter Kirchenbauer’s enthralling experimental trio "Hot Club d’électrique“ who supported us at our CD release concert for „Ones and Zeros“ in April will share the stage with us again!

Tickets for this concert are available online at the MEDIO’s website..

October 6th,2013: We have finally reached the mark of 100 facebook fans! To celebrate the occasion we have searched our vaults and found an unreleased track which you can now buy at our global distributor CDBaby for 0,99 US-$:

"The Inner Child"  was written by Flying Circus's bass player Roger Weitz (music) and Nanni C. Helmstedt (lyrics) in 2009. At the time, it did not make it onto the band's 2010 album 'Forth' as it was deemed too different to the rest of the album tracks.

"After the release of 'Forth', Flying Circus immediately started working on new material, and 'The Inner Child' was more or less forgotten. But as we happened to come across the track again a few weeks ago, we decided that it was definitely too strong a track not to be released. So, here you now have the band's first digital single.

For a short time, you can stream the full song before buying it by choosing "Artist's Playlist" from the album slider at our facebook „Music Store" - then press the play button (note: it may take a few seconds before the song finally starts) - Enjoy!

September 16th, 2013: "After the gig is before the gig": We are very glad to be able to inform you about our next concert right after the great gig in Cologne's MTC club last night: FLYING CIRCUS will be playing the Café KULTUS in Grevenbroich on Friday, November 8th, 2013.

This will be the first occasion for the new line up to play a full two hour show. Apart from a full performance of the current EP and many FLYING CIRCUS classics, the band will present three brandnew songs from the album currently in the works - and, yes, you probably guessed it: These will be the three songs we presented to you last week in the latest video on our facebook page.

So don't hesitate and order tickets now (anyone familiar with the KULTUS knows that the venue's capacity isn' that big) - and at only 5,- Euro this concert is of course a real bargain!

September 10th, 2013: There is a new video clip with material from the first demo sessions for the upcoming FLYING CIRCUS (concept) album on our facebook-page.

If you always wanted to get a real "behind the scenes" look at the band, this video will provide it: It will grant you entrance to "Roger's Farmhouse Studio" where FLYING CIRCUS recorded all their albums, and you will see the full band working on new songs.

AND: FLYING CIRCUS will play one of the new songs featured in the video live and in all it's glory at their concert at the MTC in Cologne this Sunday (Sept. 15th). So get your hands on the last special priced FLYING CIRCUS tickets (only 8,- Euro!) here - there are only a few of them left!

August 5th, 2013: FLYING CIRCUS will play a support show for Classic Rock band DIRTY SOUND MAGNET on September 15th at Cologne's renowned MTC club. The Swiss rockers raised quite a stir in their own country with their debut album "What Lies Behind" in 2012, and this year played at the famous  "Montreux Jazz Festival". In September, they will be over in Germay for the first time (in Munich, Berlin and Cologne).

Judging by DIRTY SOUND MAGNET's press release, they should go down more than well with FLYING CIRCUS fans, too: "Influenced by the finest artists of years long passed, the band manages to integrate the freshness and power of the music of today.. (...) Jimi Hendrix meets Jimmy Page meets Led Zeppelin meets The Doors meets Frank Zappa all meeting at Woodstock in 2013!"

But judge for yourselves: http://www.dirtysoundmagnet.ch (there are three great video clips in their "Media" section). Plus: "The Black Widow's Project", also from Switzerland, will play a support set as well.

You can now buy tickets for the concert at the special "FLYING CIRCUS price" of 8,- Euro per ticket plus 50 cent per order for postage and packing. As buying tickets via Eventim, Ticketmaster etc. or even the MTC itself will be more expensive, you shouldn't wait too long with ordering your special "FLYING CIRCUS price ticket" (by answering this e-mail) - our ticket allotment is not that big...

July 7th, 2013: Over the last couple of weeks, some more reviews of the latest FLYING CIRCUS EP 'Ones and Zeros' kept coming in. There were reports by the renowned German magazines 'Eclipsed' and 'Rock Hard' for example, and the first reviews in English language publications. As usual, we summed this all up here in our reviews section.

We can also tell you that the band is busy rehearsing first draft versions of compositions for the new album at the band's home at Roger's Farmhouse Studio! There will be "video evidence" of this on our Facebook site soon.

May 25th, 2013: There is a new FLYING CIRCUS video on YouTube!

Combining the finished audio track "Hero In Disguise" with video material documenting its recording sessions at "Roger's Farmhouse Studio", Bedburg, and "Blömer Audio", Stolberg, this clip should give you an impression of how the new Flying Circus EP "Ones and Zeros" was produced: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmkoKpeuawI

Thanks to Daniel Ploszonka and Nanni C. Helmstedt for filming when we couldn't hold the camera ourselves.

May 12th, 2013: One month after the release of our current CD we have updated this website with the first feedback on "Ones and Zeros": You'll find the first three reviews of our EP - one by renowned German prog rock site "Babyblaue Seiten", one by the readable online magazine "musik an sich" and the last in the latest issue of print magazine "Rock It!" - all translated in to English for you in the "Reviews" section. We are of course delighted that the music written by the current line-up is as well-received as our previous releases! What's interesting is that all three reviews stress how good the "very successful cover of the Rolling Stones classic" Paint It Black is ("musik an sich"). What an honour!

You'll also find a new subsection under "Photos" called "Flying Circus live" which will provide you with live pics after every future FLYING CIRCUS gig. There are some photos shot at our CD release party on April 12th at Grevenbroich's "Schloss Hülchrath" of course. On this occasion, a big "thank you" goes to photographer Frank Röder who sent us some really fantastic pictures of the event. But see for yourselves at FLYING CIRCUS LIVE!

April 12th, 2013: The new Flying Circus CD 'Ones and Zeros' is now available here on our website.

If you would like to check out the EP before buying: There are snippets of all its songs here, and you can watch a video for the complete audio track 'Fire (I Wanna Go)' on our YouTube channel - the video should give you an idea of the lavish digipak artwork and is combined with band pics by photographer Ralph Sondermann.

On our Facebook page's 'Band Profile' there is also a complete audio stream of the EP's opening song 'Hero in Disguise'.

March 27th, 2013: Important news regarding the ticket sale for the FLYING CIRCUS CD release party for "Ones and Zeros" at Schloss Hülchrath on April 12th: In addition to the online sale here you can now also buy tickets at the Mayersche Buchhandlung/Bücherstube Krause in Grevenbroich and at Bioladen Ritzenhof Hanen in Elsdorf-Niederembt.

Plus: We finally managed to set up a proper page for FLYING CIRCUS at Facebook which you will find
here. On this page, you can hear the new song "Ones and Zeros" from the upcoming CD in full length in the "Band Profile" section, and in the "MusicStore" section, you are able to browse through all previous our albums and buy them worldwide. We will add the new EP here on ist official release date (April 12th), of course.

The promo pictures (shot by photographer Ralph Sondermann) which we have posted here are also available on our website (also in hi-res print quality) here.

March 17th, 2013: Let's celebrate: FLYING CIRCUS Mk. VI is now together for one whole year!

In March 2012, Rüdiger Blömer took over the vacant post on keyboards and added the violin to the fold as well. Yet funnily enough, the band hit the stage for the first time roughly two weeks BEFORE Rüdiger officially joined:

Just like FLYING CIRCUS drummer Ande Roderigo, Rüdiger took part in THIN CROW's one off "Plugged!" concert at the Medio in Bergheim on March 2nd, 2012 as a guest musician. Performing a diverse range of cover songs as well as the FLYING CIRCUS classic "Seasons" the five band members had so much fun that they decided to permanently work together within the FLYING CIRCUS frame.

In order to commemorate this fateful evening, you can now watch two videos from the convert at YouTube: the gig's opener "Baba O'Riley" (originally by THE WHO, of course) and the title track from FLYING CIRCUS's debut album "Seasons".

Enjoy! And if you do: You can watch the band's first full show on April 12th at Grevenbroich's "Schloss Hülchrath" where they will present their new CD "Ones and Zeros". Tickets are available via e-mail here.

February 23rd, 2013: You can now order tickets for the FLYING CIRCUS CD release concert on April 12th at Grevenbroich's "Schloss Hülchrath" - simply by sending us an E-Mail.

You can either pay by bank transfer or via PayPal (we will charge you an additional 70 Cent per order for postage and packing), and the presale price is 8,- Euro. On the night itself, tickets will cost 10,- Euro at the box office.

Doors will be opened at 7:30 pm, and the concert will start at 8:30 pm. FLYING CIRCUS will hit the stage after sets by HOT CLUB D'ÉLECTRIQUE ("Hendrix meets Kraftwerk") and HEADSTONE ("guitar oriented hard rock and garage blues") at around 10:30 pm. The band will present all the songs on the new EP plus highlights from all other FLYING CIRCUS albums released to date.

February 2nd, 2013: We can now tell you the official release date for the next FLYING CIRCUS CD:

"Ones and Zeros" will become available worldwide on April 12th, 2013. From this date onwards, you will be able to order our new EP at CDBaby, iTunes, amazon & Co. and of course here on our own website - and what's more: You can NOW listen to some sound snippets from it in our "MUSIC" section to get you into the right mood already.

In order to celebrate the release of "Ones and Zeros" there will of course be a concert on that date as well: The CD release party will take place at Grevenbroich's "Schloss Hülchrath" in the atmospheric vaults of the castle. We will inform you about all the details regardings this gig (doors, showtime and how to order presale tickets etc.) here on our website soon.

One thing we can tell you already: We are very pleased that our long-time musical companions, Grevenbroich's very own blues rock veterans HEADSTONE (active for more than 32 years now!) and the new group HOT CLUB D´ÉLECTRIQUE ("Hendrix meets Karftwerk"), which is based around guitar virtuoso, singer, composer and producer Dieter Kirchenbauer from nearby Bedburg will support us on this occasion.

January 11th, 2013: We have started to update the FLYING CIRCUS website with some content for our upcoming release "Ones and Zeros": Today, we added the complete lyrics to the EP to the "lyrics" section - as always graced by parts of the CD's artwork.

You already know the cover via the last news entry on our website, and now you can have a look at the whole "Ones and Zeros" booklet as well: the thumbnails next to the lyrics are all clickable and will open new windows with bigger versions of the booklet pages. We will also add the first "Ones and Zeros" audio files soon.

So: hope you'll enjoy the artwork!

December 3rd, 2012: The new FLYING-CIRCUS-EP "Ones and Zeros" has just been completed! The band sequenced the final master versions of the six tracks yesterday, and the finished premaster is already on its way to the pressing plant. The "Ones and Zeros"-songs copmprise two new compositions written specifically for the EP ("Hero in Disguise" and "Fire/I Wanna Go"), an acoustic version of the Flying Circus classic "Follow the Empress" (originally released in 1997 on the band's debut album "Seasons") and a cover version of the Jagger/Richards-penned Stones masterpiece "Paint it Black
" featuring a little instrumental intro fpr setting the mood. In addition to this, you can find a special version of the brand new Flying Circus track "Back to the City" on this EP, which serves as an appetizer to the coming Flying Circus concept album. This last song was mastered at legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, while the other tracks got their master touch at SAGE Audio in Nashville, Tennessee.

In the meantime, Michael Dorp spent a lot of work on a new version of the EP's artwork, which you can see next to this text (click for bigger version). "Ones and Zeros" will be released as a strictly limited lush digipak edition (500 copies worldwide), complete with a 12-page coloured booklet. Yet, there''s still some time to kill until the actual release: after the CD's manufacturing there will still be all the distribution channels to be filled, so please be patient until the end of March/beginning of April – when there will of course be a FLYING CIRCUS concert to the accompany the event. Details will follow shortly.

October 13th, 2012: Time for a short progress report on the upcoming FLYING CIRCUS EP: work in the studio is going along very well, and especially Roger Weitz and Rüdiger Blömer are spending a lot of time creating a really professional sound for "Ones and Zeros" and making every detail absolutely perfect. In order to even surpass the great sound the band achieved on "Forth", FLYING CIRCUS have decided to get the finished tracks mastered at an external sound studio for the first time. In the meantime, singer Michael Dorp managed to complete a draft for the "Ones and Zeros" cover which you can see right next to this paragraph (please click on the image for a larger version of the cover). The photographs for the "Ones and Zeros" cover and booklet were taken by Rengsdorf-based photographer Rolf Weingarten, who regularly shhots live pics for THIN CROW and MAD ZEPPELIN. You can view his best pictures here.

And there is something for those of you who would like to get to know the new guys in the band a bit better: You will find a video for a composition by new FLYING CIRCUS keyboarder/violinist Rüdiger at YouTube – his piece “Nineteenseventyfive” was played by the young "Rockstreicher" orchestra from Mönchengladbach's municipal music school where Rüdiger is a teacher. This will give you an impression of his formidable skills as a composer and as a sound engineer.

September 1st, 2012: Taking just a little time off working on the EP, the new FLYING CIRCUS line-up has finally managed to do a foto session and we have now updated the website accordingly (thanks a lot to photographer Antje Görnig for taking the pictures yet again). In addition to the shots of drummer Ande Roderigo and keyboard player/violinist Rüdiger Blömer right here, you can find two brand new pictures of the whole band in the "Photos" section.

In order to give you an idea of the two "new guys" and their musical background, we have also provided you with full portraits of Ande and Rüdiger in the "Band"-section. Furthermore, you can now read how we came across these two fabulous musicians by taking a look at the freshly updated band history.

Over the last couple of weeks we were also able to conclude the recording sessions for our new EP which, as we can reveal now, will be called 'Ones and Zeros'. Drums, bass guitar and the basic rhythm guitars were recorded simultaneously in a live situation in "Roger's Farmhouse Studio" - the first time we worked that way since recording the FLYING CIRCUS debut 'Seasons' back in 1997. While large chunks of further overdubs were also recorded at Roger's place, we decided to use Rüdiger Blömer's studio for the lead vocals as well as the keyboard- and violin tracks and some additionaly acoustic guitars this time around. The result is more than satisfying, and we will spend the next few weeks mixing the five songs. More details soon!

March 19th, 2012: FLYING CIRCUS is complete again! After being able to secure professional drummer Ande Roderigo's valuable services a couple of months ago, the band can now proudly announce that the vacant keyboarder's post has been taken over by Rüdiger Blömer. Rüdiger played together with Roger Weitz once before - way back in the 1980ies as a leading member of their jazz rock outfit FLAGEOLETT, and in addition to playing keyboards, he will add the violin to FLYING CIRCUS's musical framework. All guitar work within the band will be taken over by Michael Rick alone from now on.

January 9th, 2012: Substantial upheavals in the FLYING CIRCUS camp: Unfortunately, keyboard player Lars Frik, drummer Falco Kurtz and guitarist Lorenz Gelius-Laudam have all decided to leave the band for job- and/or family-related reasons. Over the last couple of months, one after the other came to the conclusion that they could no longer contribute as much to the band as they wanted. As you can imagine, this decision wasn't the easiest to make after all these years of making music together – neither for the three musicians who will leave nor for the other three who will stay in the band. Thanks for all the effort you put into FLYING CIRCUS and good luck to you, guys – we will miss your creative input and three true friends!

However, the band will continue working on new material, of course: 8 songs for the planned concept album have already been written, and at the same time we are working on an EP comprising 5 tracks in total (three brand-new compostions, one re-interpretation of an old Flying Circus song and one cover version).

We will be able to tell you what the new FLYING CIRCUS line-up will look like rather soon, because FLYING CIRCUS Mk. VI is set to contribute two songs to the big "THIN CROW Plugged!" concert in March – so stay tuned for the official announcement!

January 1st, 2011: Flying Circus wish you a happy new year and all the best for 2011!

2010 was a very special year for Flying Circus. How many bands are able to celebrate their 20th anniversary, after all? So this is a time to say thank you so much to all of you, because without your support we probably would have quitted a long time ago! You have to go back a long way in time to find a year that saw you buying more of our albums than 2010 – back to the time of our debut 'Seasons' in fact (and back then, this was much easier – not just because we had the support of a label). But even more motivating is the fact that so many of you told us how meaningful and relevant you find our music – be it by coming up to us after gigs, by writing an album review or by sending us an e-mail – often from far-flung corners of the earth. That is the most important thing!

So rest assured: There will be new Flying Circus music to listen to over the next couple of months! We are currently working on new material, and we plan to relaese at least a digital single or EP soon – but what's more: in the long run, there will be the first concept album by Flying Circus to look forward to. During the last couple of months, we have been throwing some musical and lyrical ideas around, and over the last couple of weeks we have come to the conclusion: yes, the whole thing is relevant enough to be stretched out over an entire album. We will keep you up to date with the process of working on this most ambitious project of ours to date!

In addition to that, the last days of 2010 saw a more than pleasant surprise for us: TSM Promotions, the British promo agency supporting us in the UK, has just voted Flying Circus best progressive rock band of the year in its internal poll – putting us on top of its charts which are also sporting none other than US legend Pavlov's Dog among others – incredible!

October 8th, 2010: Over the last few months and after loads of reviews in Germany, the internationale press has finally also caught the buzz about our latest album 'Forth'. There have been articles in Britains most renowned rock magazine 'Classic Rock' and the very influential 'Dutch Progressive Rock Page', for example. As always, we have posted all the new reviews here. Furthermore, there will be reviews in the forthcoming issues of US-magazine 'Progression' and british magazine 'Fireworks'. The latter will also publish an interview with singer Michael Dorp. There also has been some airplay from radio stations from the USA, Britain and France over the last couple of weeks, and thus CD-sales have again taken an upward turn recently. Plus: Some further magazines, websites and radio stations from Britain, Canada and Poland have ordered their 'Forth' promo packages in the last couple of days, so we do stand a fair chance that sales will remain on a decent level for the rest of the year.

June 15th, 2010: A number of magazines have published further (great) reviews regarding the latest FLYING CIRCUS album 'Forth' (including German mags and websites 'Metal Hammer', 'MUSIKER Magazin' and 'musik an sich'). As always, we have listed the reviews here.

Plus: Tomorrow (June 16th, 2010), the new edition of top class German rock mag 'Rock It!' will be at the newsagents, and it will contain a sheer fireworks display of FLYING CIRCUS: In addition to the obligatory review, there will be an interview with the band and a FLYING CIRCUS track on the mag's 'Hear It!' sampler. This time, the paper's editors chose 'Overload' for their CD.

And last but not least: Our albums 'Seasons' and 'Pomp' are available again after a short hiatus. The reissues have finally been delivered to us! So, if you would like to order a copy of one of those, just click on ORDER CDs.

April 29th, 2010: The first reviews regarding the new FLYING CIRCUS albums 'Forth' have arrived. We have assembled them for you in the 'reviews' section - happy reading!

January 6th, 2010: As you can see the FLYING CIRCUS website has been completely relaunched.

Most important update: You can now hear first samples from the forthcoming album 'Forth' in the 'MUSIC' section. You will of course also find some sound snippets from the bonus CD 'Back' (containing rerecordings of early FLYING CIRCUS compositions from the years 1989 to 1995 hitherto unavailable on CD) which will be part of the deluxe edition of 'Forth'.

Additonally, we added the lyrics for the albums due to be released on January 16th in the 'LYRICS' section. As usual, you will also get an impression of the new CD's artwork, as guitarist Lorenz Gelius-Laudam has once again graced the CD booklet with some great illustrations which have been combined with current photo portraits of the FLYING CIRCUS band members.

These pictures of the band and the press photos were shot by Antje Görnig who already was responsible for the photos in the 'Pomp' artwork.

So: Enjoy the website and above all: the new sound samples and pictures!

December 24th, 2009: Just a quick note just before Christmas with the latest infos regarding the new FLYING CIRCUS album:

During the last couple of days, Roger Weitz and Michael Dorp have finished mixing and mastering the main CD FORTH and the Bonus CD BACK for its special box set edition.

The CDs will be pressed right after the festive season.

August 20th, 2009: Following a row of entries primarily concerned with FLYING CIRCUS members' activities outside the band, it is now time to talk about FLYING CIRCUS again as the band plans to release its new album called ‘Forth’ in December. The title is a play on words of course, as it is the band’s fourth album.

Preproductions for the 11 new songs were completed a couple of weeks ago, and now the final tracks are being layed down.

As the band will celebrate its 20th anniversary this autumn, there will not only be a standard edition of ‘Forth’, but also a deluxe version with a bonus CD containing more than a dozen of early FLYING CIRCUS songs which were written before the release of the band’s first album. These tracks have never been released before except on underproduced cassette demos and/or live bootlegs and will now be properly recorded for the first time and summarized under the banner ‘Back – The Rest of Flying Circus’. The cardboard slipcase package of both CDs will thus be available under the obvious title of ‘Back and Forth’.

In the meantime, band members Michael Rick, Michael Dorp and Roger Weitz have also found the time to participate in Bergheim’s open air spectacle ‘Remember Woodstock’ last weekend. This concert got a very favourable review in the ‘Kölner Stadtanzeiger’ which you can read at: http://www.rhein-erft-online.ksta.de/html/artikel/1246883785732.shtml.

Aif you are able to understand German, that is... But you can also find some photos and comments regarding the concert from a FlYING-CIRCUS-/THIN-CROW - point of view in English here.

March 9th, 2009: FLYING CIRCUS/THIN CROW musicians meet their idols!

The next weeks and months hold very special treats for three of the six FLYING CIRCUS MEMBERS: they are going to play concerts with some of their definitive idols:

Following the THIN CROW concerts on March, 13th (http://www.loftkoeln.de), and March 14th (http://www.auf-bedburg.de/termin_14.html) guitarist Michael Rick will have the extraordinary honour to take part in this year's 'Unplugged Festival' in Bedburg and thus to meet one of his big influences: legendary folk guitarist Werner Lämmerhirt will be headlining this concert and will certainly not only excite Michael Rick but the rest of the audience as well. In the 1970s Lämmerhirt was a pioneer of the German folk scene and has become the yardstick regarding picking and open tunings.

On this evening, FLYING CIRCUS/THIN CROW guitarist Michael Rick will play some songs from his 'Solo' CD in the presence of his idol, and he will partly be accompanied by his bandmates Michael Dorp and Roger Weitz. He will also collaborate on a number with 'Unplugged Festival' host Dieter Kirchenbauer who has also invited Wulf Hanses-Ketteler (Acoustic Shiver), Joachim Gohlke & Markus Vögeler Duo (Jazz/ Latin), Lajos Tar (classical guitar), Guido Lehmann (blues roots), Peter Heichele (rock guitarist from Munich) and Niño David & Sajjaa Sofian (flamenco guitar) to take part. The revenue of this evening full of musical variety will completely go to the charity organisation 'Bedburger Tafel'. This also holds true for March, 13th when, 7 additional bands (Buuredanz, Acoustic Shiver, Olaf Boles, Hard Day's Night, Angela Hübner, Fairytale and die Erft-Rebels) will join THIN CROW in rotating through four Pubs in Bedburg completely without amplification and only by candlelight. So don't let this unique opportunity of enjoying high quality music while contributing to charity pass you by!

May, 31st will then see an absoulte highlight for FLYING CIRCUS/THIN CROW musicians Michael Dorp and Roger Weitz. The two of them will play a support gig with Michael Dorp's LED ZEPPELIN tribute band MAD ZEPPELIN for none other than former DEEP PURPLE bassist/singer GLENN HUGHES! Glenn "The Voice of Rock" Hughes is going to join the excellent German DEEP PURPLE tribute band DEMON'S EYE for a one-off guest performance also for charitable purposes. He will play loads of songs from the legendary Purple albums "Burn", "Stormbringer" and "Come Taste The Band" in front of an audience of probably around 700 people. The ultimate 70s time trip at the 'Dreisbachhalle' Netphen (near Siegen) is going to be kickstarted at 8 pm by a 60 minute regular DEMON'S EYE set containing the most important classics from the DEEP PURPLE Mk.II era with Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. After that, it will be time for Mr. Hughes himself to take over bass and vocals for more than 70 minutes peppered with the best songs from the Mk.III/IV period of DEEP PURPLE. The "aftermath" leg of the concert will then belong to MAD ZEPPELIN who aregoing to be joined by Roger Weitz who for will be acting as a substitute for regular bass player Christian Ludwig.
